Whew!

I played some serious catch up with our blog! Sorry it got a little out of date order. There are a few of the previous posts that have additional pictures in them now, so you have to look at all of them all over again :-). I hope you all enjoy our blog. My next catch up is to add the last half of 2007 and we will be all caught up. I'll say it again...Whew!

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

I have been to their Christmas concert twice. This is the concert Doug and I went to in December 2006. These are taken with my cell phone - not too shabby! The top picture is fire they would blast occasionally.

Halloween 2006

Halloween at work is always fun. This is the office at my previous job. The people there are so great!

A day in the park

We were asked if we would take Sean and Kayla's engagement photos, so we headed out to a park on 7-9-06. This is the picture we took of ourselves. They should have sent this one in the invitations, but they didn't - oh well.

Softball

Then the following month we started playing softball (5-13-06). This is another picture of Doug doing what he loves best. The picture of me (in the second picture - in red) is while I was bummed that I struck out. Brother Hague is quite the heckler while on base; he's such a crack up!

Bowling

The following weekend after the snow trip (4-15-06) another group set out to go bowling. Most of the pictures came out blurry, so these will have to do. Hanging out with Dan and Lisa is a blast, they are just as silly as we are.

Climbing

Doug and I love to climb. We haven't done it much lately though. Pictures from 4-7-06. As you can see Doug's wall is much more difficult than my wall. There were 2 other guys with us and no one could get beyond this part of the difficult wall - just so you know, I didn't even try.

Single's Ward Snow Trip

This was a fun day. On Feb. 20th, 2006 some of us went up to Sugarbowl for a snow trip. I was one of the drivers - I don't usually volunteer to drive, but I was in a rental car, so I didn't care much - which is a good thing as you will see in the pictures!

This is me after I ran over a cone. We stopped to get gas and were heading back down the hill and Bart said he heard a dragging noise just before I got on the freeway. I thought he was hearing things, but I pulled over anyways. Well, sure enough I stole the cone from the gas station. It melted to the car and that made it really difficult to remove. Bart was trying to lift up on the car while I pulled and pulled on it (the other passengers were standing nearby and laughing). We finally got it loose. Then I was told I needed to return it to the gas station - just a note, it came out of under the car in the same shape as you see it in under the car; it's dead, there is no use for the cone anymore. Since it was requested that I take it back I did - I drove back and put it back where it was, just in a different shape.

After we got back down the hill, we stopped in Roseville and had dinner. We were freezing cold and still wet, but at least our jeans weren't frozen anymore.

Halloween 2005

We all went to a Halloween "barn party". There were so many people there, even the mascot from the Kings showed up. I'll have to add his picture later.

Temple building

While on the thought of the Temple, here some pictures while it was being built....the pictures were taken between July 2005 and August 2006 - some of the picture are from the webcam that was set up.


And I thought I'd throw in the Oakland Temple while I'm at it...(I'm in the middle of the top picture and the bottom picture was taken on my cell phone - they sure put nice cameras in cell phones!)

Missionaries

I wanted to add these photos because it was a lot of work to make this chain. There were 731 links on it - it had an extra one because I messed it up right in the middle.

The lower picture is the photo from James' homecoming January 2007. He hadn't seen the new temple because it was built while he was on his mission, so that was one of the first stops and then off to Fuddruckers for burgers.

While the cat's away...

Yes, the mice will play! Our boss, Scott, left for a few days and this is what we did to his office. We always kid around that we take naps or party in his office while he's away, so we decorated it to look like a party. We went all out! We had cups all over with different shades of lipstick, coins and cards on his desk from a "poker game", the earthquake bucket/toilet thing, etc. He had the joy of coming in to this Monday morning. Fun with Saran Wrap

As many of you know, I'm dealing with a mold lawsuit and almost everything had to be thrown out. Well, I had a bunch of Saran Wrap, wax paper, and foil that needed to be thrown away, so we had fun with it first. Doug is wearing a roll of each: green, pink, blue, purple, and clear Saran Wrap, as well as a roll of wax paper and finally a roll of foil. I know that's a lot of Saran Wrap, but I bought all the colors to wrap cookies in for church and had tons left over - so Doug got to wear them! This picture was taken on 3-28-07.

You all also might know that Doug carries a knife in his pocket just like my step dad. I went to grab some scissors to cut Doug out of the wrap and a knife pops through and he cut himself out. It was so funny! It came off like a giant cocoon.

Engagement Photo

We had our photos taken on 4-15-07 by our friend Sarah. You can check out some of her awesome work on her website, sarahmarenphotography.com. Our engagement photos and wedding photos can be found there as well. Doug and I had fun taking the pictures, especially because there was a carnival nearby and we got cotton candy too. Sarah is super talented and she makes taking pictures easy and fun.

Decorated desk

When we got back from Washington, I went to work and found my desk decorated as congratulations for our engagement. It was a great surprise to come back to. We are pretty big on decorating desks; you'll see more of them soon.

Trip to Washington February 2007

Mom, Glenn, Doug, and I went to Washington for Justin's graduation from dive school. We went for a hike one day. That is actually Canada way behind us; we are standing on a pretty steep cliff, but it's great for pictures.

We walked through the old gun batteries and explored the different tunnels through them. It's a great hike and there is a lot to see.Then on the 20th, - Justin's Graduation Day! - we took a FREEZING cold ferry trip to get to Seattle. We were drinking hot chocolate to help keep warm and using it as a hand warmer. There are places to sit inside, so we didn't have to freeze for too long. We walked around Seattle for a while and through the different shops at Pike Place. Of course my mom found some Wizard of Oz things to buy.

Just when I thought it couldn't get colder, we toured Justin's school. This is one of the students getting ready for a dive. We were able to pick up some of the gear they wear, but I could only try to pick up some of it. The helmets and things they wear are so heavy! Justin said they throw quarters in the water and have to go find them. Sounds like fun, but I'd prefer warmer water.

Then on to Justin's graduation. He graduated at the top of his class. So exciting. We are all so proud of him. He had a job before we came home! We spent the rest of the week running around to get equipment he needed for his job. We made a trip to Home Depot, so Doug and I grab paint color samples and chose the colors for our wedding in the next couple days. That made it pretty easy!
After the graduation, our parents, Tammy's parents, a friend of Justin's, Doug and I all headed to Justin and Tammy's favorite restaurant. It was very similar to Morton's of Chicago out here.

Valentine's Day 2007

Doug and I had dinner at a local restaurant - not the greatest experiences. We took dessert "to go" and went to my apartment. Not paying much attention, I put the brownie in the microwave to heat it so the ice cream would melt on top. I peeked out of the kitchen and Doug was kneeling in the middle of the living room. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "Waiting for you." I didn't think anything of it and went back to check on the dessert - I have priorities, you know. I peeked out again and he was still sitting there, again waiting for me. I walked out there thinking he was just being silly and ran to tackle him. Doug stopped me dead in my tracks and pulled a small, black box out of his pocket and proposed with the most beautiful ring ever! A classic response from me was, "Are you serious!?" He said yes, so I said yes!
p.s. I wrote that restaurant about our crappy experience and they sent us gift certificates to win our business back...we still haven't used them. Maybe some day, it is free food after all and Doug loves food.

Teamwork

This is one of my favorite photos, although I don't like it because who really wants a picture of their butt? However,....this is how TEAMWORK is done! Becky and I were putting up a keyboard tray and it was pretty heavy to hold up with our arms, so we used our feet. This picture was taken while we were working and with a little love from our graphic designer, this is what you get.(taken on 2-12-07)

Shooting to enrich our lives

This is Doug and me at a shooting range on 7-18-06. A group of girls and I went shooting as an enrichment idea; guys brought the guns. I had quite a sore shoulder by the end of the afternoon, but it was still fun. The picture below is just great - if you don't know Doug very well, he would carry a gun 24/7.
