Our new bundle of joy....

Stay tuned for more information!!! Just thought I'd peak your curiosity. HAHA, what a stinker I am :)

See what happens!!

This is what happens when the husband messes around while the wife is carrying 2 large glass vases.
Doug saw my hands were full last weekend when I found a couple vases while unpacking. I started walking to the kitchen to put them away and Doug thought he'd mess with me. I threw my arms together to block him and slammed the vases into each other. I felt like crying and laughing at the same time. Laughing because it was soooo funny, but crying because I was lame enough to slam glass together. I had pants on and the glass cut through them somehow. Doug and I are thankful the glass didn't land upside down on my foot since the base of the vase bounced off my toes. Glass was all over the place and of course the vacuum was at the apartment when this happened.
But priorities ya know...when it happened I sat on the ground so I wouldn't get blood on the carpet and said, "Doug, get the camera! This will be a funny post!"

Boss' Day

We decorated and ordered Chinese food for our boss. Suzanne was all by her lonesome until the rest came in.

Always fighting to get photos of these 2.

Doug with facial hair

Doug has to be clean shaven for one of his jobs. He had a week off from that job and decided to grow some facial hair. I guess some guys at his other job were having a facial hair growing race. Doug beat them in the first couple days. It's a good thing they weren't racing him. After this picture he went and shaved, but left a mustache. He looked like he needed some aviator sun glasses and a CHP motorcycle. He is back to his clean shaven self now. This picture doesn't really do it justice, but you get the idea.

What could all these pieces make?

A desk of course!!

Joe's Crab Shack

I sure hope to go to this restaurant again. The food was really good and it was a blast watching the staff stop everything and dance in the middle of everything.
What!??? Free crab tomorrow!?? I'm going back tomorrow!

A couple signs for the home...

Staff dancing away. The shirts the staff wore were really funny too. They said things like, "Got Crabs? We do." and "We catch crabs so you don't have to."

There was a large case of crabs too.

Birthday fun to share

I've never been on light-rail, so a few friends and I ventured out to light-rail and rode it to downtown Sacramento. After the machine ate our $20 bill, we were let on for free one way. Becky had mentioned in the car on the way there that she buys tickets and no one checks them, but the one time she won't have a ticket someone will ask for it. Sure enough! No tickets = ticket checker!! Luckily the guy that let us on for free was driving/conducting - whatever it would be called - and we were able to tell the ticket checker the guy was up front if he needed to verify. He left us and went to check other passengers for tickets. Well, the woman in the seat across from us had her own views about us not getting tickets and shared them. "Uh huh, that's tha only time I eva seen dat happen'!" "Must be gittin' close to da holidays, mmmm hmmmm." "I ain't neva seen no one get away wit outta ticket on dis trian. uh huh. mmm hmmm." Oh yea, she wouldn't let it go. So we begin talking amongst ourselves again and laugh that the machine spit the $20 out and we put it back in thinking it's like a lame soda machine that spits out money a few times before it takes it. Well, here come her opinions again..."If I put in $20 and da machine spits et out, there wouldn't a been a second time. mmmm hmmm, uh huh." It's such a fun story now! So now I'll share the rest of the story using the photos below.

Becky's sister Roxane and I on one side.
Becky and Christy on the other side.
We found a fun Halloween area and took some photos.
I guess this one won a ribbon, but they sure chose a specific location to place it.
Down town train decorated.
Had to buy taffy! It's so hard to choose flavors, so I usually grab about 3-5 of almost every flavor.
Adults only! We had to leave Becky outside at this shop. HAHA
Off to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. I was given a hat and pom-poms.
Little did I know I had to cheer while the restaurant sang Happy Birthday.
The end of our day...We were left by 2 light-rail trians. See, no train. Roxane even walked up to a trian and pushed the button and the doors wouldn't open. Then I heard a click twice and figure the conductor guy locked them twice. LAME!Us bored waiting for the train. Silly sun made the photo dark.
I kept running back and forth to set the camera on rocks by the train tracks. I told the gals to make sure a train didn't come and hit me while I was goofing around.
Still bored!

It was a fun day! And best of all, I have a fun story from the day. On the ride back we bought tickets and the same ticket checker got on and didn't ask us to see our tickets. After a little chit chatting he remembered the machine had eaten our money. We got some great stories form him and his female coworker. Roxane had noticed how people scattered and hopped off the train when they saw someone coming on to check tickets. I asked how much a ticket was for getting caught without a ticket and I mentioned to the 2 checkers about the people scattering and they shared story after story. One guy they went to court for over a ticket had other officers there for him too, like CHP and such. They were really fun to talk to. They told us they were on their way to Folsom because a 4 year old got off the train and her grandma wasn't able to get off fast enough, so the little girl was left alone; luckily a good Samaritan got off the train to be with her until they could get the grandma back to her.

Great Coworkers!

Although not until tomorrow, I came into work yesterday and my desk was decorated for my birthday. There was confetti all over the desk too, but this is what it looks like today. I left it for today since my birthday isn't until until tomorrow. My friend/coworker Kristie made a "brownie/cookie bite". It was brownie mix mixed with cookie dough and baked. Yummy for sure! My coworkers gave me great gifts too. I'm so lucky to work with such great people!
What's with the weird glare, smeary photo? Yeah, it's a finger print on the lens. Cute huh?

House warming party

We have been asked a few times if we are going to have a house warming party. We will after we can get some of this stuff under control. I can't hide the mess from all of you quite yet. We would LOVE for everyone to come and see the house though, so we'll keep you posted.

Lots of house stuff this weekend...

After painting the closet it was time for the next project: ceiling fans and kitchen blinds.

After some trial, error and Google, the fan is up and running! It's running on high in this photo, but looks like it's stopped. Now, on to blinds...Don't you like our cardboard held up by TV trays! SO CHIC!!!

And now we have blinds!! Thanks to the handy hubby! Oh yeah, but I know you still love the sheet we have hanging over the sliding glass door! Keeps the sun out, so that's what matters.

Painting

We painted the master bedroom closet over the weekend. I LOVE buying paint at Lowes now. They have paint that on clearance for about $10 a gallon because the color wasn't right for some reason. Just beware to make sure you buy enough for the entire area you need.
Cost to paint white closet $10
Cost to paint white closet still only $10 in progress.
Cost of admitting to your husband that the color you HAD to have really IS too dark...priceless!
Paint sure is ugly while it dries!
Oh whew! It didn't end up being as dark as I thought. Cost of still being able to say I'm right...invaluable!! HAHA. Just kidding. It did come out pretty good though. We thought we were going to run out of paint, but we had some left over. We are going to repaint the shelves white when we come across a clearanced white paint.

OUCHIE!!!!

Okay, toes are super ugly to photograph, but here is mine. I was pulling a furniture box towards myself, yes barefoot, and pulled it right over my toe which bent my toe nail backwards. I know the picture is hard to see, but holy smokes did it hurt - oh an an FYI... toe nails bleed pretty good when ya bend them backwards. I did it just over a week ago and still can't put a shoe on. One of the first things I took to the house was a first aid kit that we got as a wedding gift. It sure came in handy!! My toe looks like I had a french manicure done with a red tip instead of white. Eeeewwww.

It's a mess, but it's coming together

Just our mess getting bigger.
Doug assembling the chairs for our kitchen table, he also assembled the chairs for the dining room table. We bought this on our honeymoon, it's FINALLY out of it's box!!
The livingroom now. We have a set of tables picked out when the funds are available.
Our counter height table in the kitchen.
New washer and dryer - installed by Doug. Still haven't used them. Doing laundry at the apartment still.
New refrigerator - installed by Doug. It's very black, so you can't tell it has ice and water in the door. I love it!!
I am so lucky to have such a handy hubby!!

Funny Stuff

So, on a lighter note than a prison riot....

Doug had a funny idea of something to put on the back of my car. Speaking of, I'm supposed to get my car back today! OH it will be so nice! Can you believe I actually have to lock the doors and roll the windows by HAND in the rental!!?? I know!! HAHAH.

Anyways, here is his idea...

NO WHAMMY, NO WHAMMY
STOP !!!!!

It could work to keep people from running into me, or just cause them to run into me from reading it.

My Mom's Job

I was going to sum up what happened, but I'll just copy and paste the news report....They usually don't have photos like this in the news.

REPRESA, Calif. -- Authorities are investigating a riot involving hundreds Folsom State Prison inmates that left seven prisoners injured.
LiveCopter 3 HD captured images of some inmates being put on stretchers shortly after Tuesday afternoon's melee, which started as a fight between black and white inmates and grew to involve about 200 people.
Prison staff had to use pepper spray to control the crowd.

Gordon Hinkle, deputy press secretary for the Department of Corrections, said the fight started around 1:15 p.m.
Hinkle said the riot started in the prison yard and then filtered into two buildings.
Authorities were seen putting hand restraints on some prisoners.
No prison employees were hurt.
The prison, which is the state's second oldest, primarily houses medium-security inmates. The facility is designed to hold 2,065 inmates, but currently holds 4,023 inmates, the prison's Web site states.
