Sick Pups & Jamba

Doug broke my Jamba cup lid the other day and the folks at Jamba were nice enough to give me a new lid!!  The lid didn't twist onto the cup properly, so Doug MADE it twist.  Then we had to break the lid to get it off the cup:
 Yay Jamba!
This is Winnie hiding under the bed from Ruger - he can barely fit under the bed and I don't think she was feeling very well that day:
Later that morning they had a stand-off over a toy:
Winnie ended up with some nasty diarrhea - she pooped in one of the bedrooms.  I'll save you from having to see the picture HAHAH.  Then she pooped behind the table.  We were feeding her small amounts of rice to let her stomach calm down, but after a few days we decided to take a poop sample to the vet. to have them test it.  Her sample came back negative, so we aren't sure why she was so sick.  All of a sudden she didn't have diarrhea at all.  The next morning Ruger had diarrhea.  WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!  We can't win with these two crazies!

Both dogs ended up eating a very tasty Pepto food combo.  They won't take the Pepto from a syringe, but they'll eat it mixed into a small amount of wet dog food.  It smells and looks the same, they are just weird like that.
Winnie is almost done with the steroids for her ear infection and she gets another round of vaccinations tomorrow.  Hopefully we'll finally be able to take her outside of our property on March 8th!!

Then Ruger ended up with a cut under his eye.  We don't know how that happened either!  We're pretty thankful it was under his eye and not on his eye!
I found it funny to compare our two eye pictures from when he cut my eye a couple weeks ago - paybacks Ruger, paybacks!!  Winnie dished some sweet revenge. :)  We actually think it was from a toy they were chewing up - they were chasing each other around like crazy with the chewed up toy.
The weather was so nice that I filled Ruger's pool with a few inches of water - he loves his pool!!  Winnie isn't sure about water, but hopefully we can get her to play in it too:
Ruger size comparison from when we first got him the pool:
Sleepy puppies - I know they love the flash in a dark room - HA!:

Gardening

The weather has been really nice, so I did some gardening last weekend.  All of the pineapple grapefruit trees survived the couple frozen weeks in December:
We planted this using just a piece that was broken off Doug's parent's plant.  It was about an inch tall a couple summers ago:
My grandma's cacti - they are getting so big!!  The cactus on the left is about 7 inches tall:
Aloe plants are getting really big!:
I planted Roma tomatoes:
Cherry tomatoes:
Strawberries - we got rid of our previous plants since we used them for a couple seasons:
Winnie was trying to keep me company, but she was sick:
Planted edamame:
Sweet snap peas:
Our last plant from Brian's funeral died from being frozen during December.  I was taking the plant out of the pot to throw it away and found our frog friend:
Replanted the mini roses Noush gave me for Valentine's Day:

Grouch

I've been grouchy and grumpy for about 5 days now. I have no reason to be grumpy. PMS is only excuse enough for one of those days. I feel like I could cry at any moment - and I'm not a crying kinda gal. I think I'm just sick of our dogs being sick.  We're on about 5-6 weeks of sick dogs and still have a week and a half until Winnie is done with meds, more shots and might finally be able to leave the house on the 7th. Oh, and it doesn't help that I haven't slept through the night for weeks now.

Boohoo for me. I have a great roof over my head, a great job, a wonderful husband (who has been putting up with me), friends and family... and I'm grouchy. First world problems I guess. :) I'm going to tell myself to suck it up!!!

Crafty!

I saw a craft project where someone turned soda boxes into can dispensers.  I saved a few boxes from work and finally took time to make them pretty and cut holes to drop cans through the top.

It was pretty easy to do…just time consuming with a couple dogs being jerks.

On Sunday evening we attached a balloon to the ceiling fan.  Ruger went crazy!  He was barking at it the entire time and would chase Doug and he acted like he was catching the balloon.  You can sort of see a smeared Ruger in the bottom left of the picture.

Saturday Entertainment

This is post #1250!!!

The pups were being pretty mellow, so I got a few cute pictures of them alone and together.

When I was walking through the house to let the dogs outside, I realized what a disaster our kitchen was:
I spent time during the morning cleaning it up:
Then we sat down to spend some time together watching a movie.  Out of nowhere I ended up getting a really bad stomachache.

I posted this online: Public service announcement...

It's not a good idea to spend an hour in the bathroom being sick and then head to a birthday dinner and eat a hamburger, garlic fries, orange soda and 3 scoops of ice cream. Why would I do that you ask?... 1) I didn't want to not show up for my friend's birthday, 2) we were looking forward to dinner/ice cream all week, 3) it was yummy and most importantly 4) I'm apparently not very bright.  Here are a few pictures from Tammy’s birthday dinner at Farrells:

 This was too funny:
 Doug making a silly face:
Farrells was fun, but each of these smallish bowls of ice cream was $8!!  Dang!!:
At dinner Doug said, “I should have taken a picture of you.”  I asked why and he said, “Because you’re cute.”  AWWWW!!  So, we took a picture of ourselves when we got home.
Then this pitiful faced Ruger came to stare at us:
The dogs had some energy to burn so I gave Ruger his glass jug to jump and bark at...he flung it a few feet and it smashed all over the fireplace.  WHOOPSSSS!  It was fun while it lasted.  I'm shocked this didn't happen earlier, but it was a very thick bottle and it took quite a beating up until this - that's what happens when the lower portion of the fireplace is concrete:
They were finally pooped out, so we all went to bed:

Valentine’s Day

"Hey, what did you get for Valentine's Day?"...

A black eye. (Not really a black eye, but it's as close as I get... Example: When I was young, my little brother threw a rock and it hit me on the eye and still didn't get a black eye.)  That's what happens when you tell your hubby you're not going to waste $3-$6 on a piece of paper he'll probably only look at once (meaning a greeting card for Valentine's Day). Hahaha!! Yes, of course I'm kidding. I really did tell him I wasn't going to waste the money though!  I was teasing Ruger while running through the house, blowing through a cardboard tube and making noises through it. Both dogs were chasing me around, barking and jumping. Ruger jumped and bit me on the eye, SO lucky it wasn't worse than this!!  Ruger can jump high enough to look Doug in the face and he's 6'4", so my face wasn't too hard to reach.  My eyebrow and cheekbone feel bruised. There's a small bruise between my eyebrow and the cut. The cut is puffy now too.
Winnie got steroids for Valentine’s Day; she has an ear infection.  She was itching at her ear quite a bit and Ruger started to sniff her ear, so I figured we better have it checked out.
She’s been on pills since we got her.  The steroids make her hungry and thirsty.  The vet warned us about that and her possible potty accidents in the house….they weren’t lying!  She’s peed in the house a few times and her urine stinks!!  We’re crating them if we leave the house at all because we were only gone for 90 minutes the other day and she peed on the carpet.

On a silly note, she may end up looking like this after all these ‘roids!! HAHAH
Doug gave me beautiful roses and a card for Valentine’s Day.

We took the dogs for a car ride and had take-out for dinner.  It wasn’t a very exciting evening, but it was nice to spend some time with Doug.  We would rather put money into paying off Doug’s truck than spend it elsewhere.

Sweaty Work Week

I sit down ALL DAY at work.  Last week I emptied an entire room and shipped to another location.  It took a few days to pack it all up and about 5 days to ship it all out.  This room was filled with boxes and promotional items.  I shipped out about 45 boxes; I’m sure the other location had quite a shock when all the boxes arrived.
On Tuesday, my super sweet visiting teacher stopped by with mini roses and cookies.  She’s so smart!!  Somehow she knew I wanted to buy myself mini roses for months!  I’m very excited to grow these cute roses since my baby pumpkin plants died during our December freeze.
On Wednesday we got a Valentine’s Day card from our mortgage broker – he’s a pretty great guy and has gotten us through not only our original home loan, but 2 refinances as well.  We had to pay $0.21 to enjoy the piece of Dove Chocolate he sent HAHAH:
Thursday was an interesting day because the water in the city I work turned yellow, so we were all pretty weirded out.  The yellow water ended up on the news too.  Apparently the city switched to a different water system and didn’t flush the sediment out first (they were trying to save water, but a lot of people in the city weren’t happy about it).  Even if they tell me the sediment in the water is harmless, drinking yellow water is gross!   This fountain looked like people were peeing in it all day.
I spent time going through our filing cabinet, purging old documents, shredding a ton of paperwork and condensing files.  The giant pile of paperwork on the right is much more manageable now; shown on the left:
I ended up shredding a very large box of paper.  It feels good to get rid of extra stuff we don't need.
