I put the Griffin & Reed Eye Care link on the side. I worked there for 4 years and have so much respect for the company and doctors. I learned about their new guarantee and couldn't help but share their information. You'll have to see their site for details, but it involves getting your money back if your vision isn't 20/20 after the first year! Rav 4 in for repair FINALLY

I'm driving a little Chevy Cobalt while my SUV is in being fixed. Because the Rav was rear-ended we've been calling it the "Broke Back Rav". They'll probably have my car for a couple weeks. If they have to replace the floor in the back it could be longer. Not fun.

Oh, to update the whole insurance story. Mercury could never find the guy who hit me and didn't seem to care to help...after all, if they can't find him they don't have to pay for it right? So I had to turn it over to my insurance. I've been blessed through this process. Not only is my insurance covering the whole thing, but they waived the deducible and are paying for my rental!! Well, I'm paying $1.47 a day for it. I thought they were only going to cover a portion of it and then I would be stuck paying for the deductible. My insurance company is running the guy's license plate and are going to try to find him. I hate having to pay for something I didn't do!!

My friend/coworker, Kristie, and I decided not to go on this one and ate Dippin' Dots while we waited an hour for our other halves...we didn't eat the Dots for an hour though :-) We forced Kristie on the largest roller coaster in the park, so she wasn't up for the one above. I'm sure glad I didn't go on it either, if it rung Doug's bell for a while, I might still be recovering!

6 Flags Marine World

My company had our annual picnic at 6 Flags this year. I have more pictures, but don't have the cord to my camera handy, so I'll add them later. I just wanted to say hello and keep you all in the loop.

I also want to say thanks for all the support and kind words about our new home. We are excited, not about the moving process though.

We got the KEYS!!!!

We have a house! The carpets were cleaned this morning and Doug and his dad were installing a new garbage disposal last I heard. We have a house!!

Oh, just in case I didn't mention it....WE HAVE A HOUSE!!

My nephew's first day of 1st grade

Here are a few pictures of my nephews. Shawn is proudly sporting his Transformers lunch bag and backpack for the first day of 1st grade. Too cute! I wish we all lived closer, but I'm thankful for pictures. I can't believe how big they are getting!!

Hurricane Ike

Justin and Tammy are looking at another evacuation. Hurricane Ike is projected to be at stage 3 by the time it makes landfall.

The positive spin on these hurricanes is it's furthering Justin's career faster than expected. He will be able to break out as a commercial diver much sooner. I pray they will be safe and their stuff will be spared again.

I was reading a Louisiana newspaper today and it mentioned how a lot of gas stations are still without power which will probably cause a lot of issues evacuating as people will be running out of gas.

House Update

We are one week away now!! We went with Dan and Lisa to do the final walk through. Afterwards we went to dinner at Boca Vida...I think that's what it's called...and then to "The Fountains". They are really fun fountains of water that are timed to music. We couldn't hear the music very well, but the water was awesome to watch. My camera batteries were dead, so I have some cell phone pictures. I'll spare you all from the picture in front of an anatomically correct reindeer

THEN, we signed documents today. We are pretty much only waiting on the HOA documents and in a week we'll be home owners! Holy cow!

They are home and have power. Their stuff is fine. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for them.

Hurricane update

Justin and Tammy are doing well in Dallas Texas. The eye of the storm will be passing over their apartment sometime today. If they have power they will head home tomorrow. He expects it to take twice as long to get home as it did to get out; he said traffic was pretty bad at 1am when they left.

The hurricane was downgraded to a category 2 this morning, still a big storm though. Katrina was 180 miles wide and Gustav is 140 and the winds in Katrina were 125mph and Gustav's winds are at 110 now. Authorities are trying to secure 2 barges that broke loose - that's what broke the levees during Katrina. The second picture below shows hurricane Gustav, tropical storm Hanna and another storm that is building; the picture says "Nine", they expect that to become Tropical Storm Ike. The third picture is Hanna's projected path. Hopefully Hanna and Ike won't progress into hurricanes.

Comparing Katrina and Gustav: Katrina had a much more defined eye of the storm. You can also see Gustav is more spread out and not such a tight coil.
