Blankets

I almost forgot to post the blankets I made for my mom and Doug, for their birthdays. I don't know how to sew, so they got No-Sew fleece blankets. Doug's blanket is Carolina Panthers and my mom's is Wizard of Oz (they released a 70th anniversary fleece).

I still haven't finished the Green Bay Packers blanket and I cannot find Minnesota Vikings fleece.

Our Christmas

We went to my mom's on Christmas Eve after Doug got off work.
Grandma was sleeping in the back bedroom, so here were our accommodations (I love trailers and campers - oh and sleeping bags, I don't know what it is, but I really love sleeping bags!):
Even with a ceiling fan and flat screen TV (folded up against the ceiling) Doug can stand straight up:
It was another story for the shower, although he can stand up the shower head is at his chest:
Then we exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve because my mom wanted to let Doug sleep in the next morning:
My grandma was so excited over her red bird sweatshirt. She still wears the blue, beaded necklace I gave her last year. She has moments that she doesn't remember who I am, but she always remembers that I gave her that necklace:
Here is the critter of the day photo (oh and the outhouse my step-dad put up):Somehow we ended up with a girls table and a boys table:
Here's the baking mishap for the day; forgot about the yams with marshmallows on top - the yams were fine, but the marshmallows weren't:
The gang hanging out - we had a Harley Santa hat and a regular Santa hat:
Then we headed to Doug's parent's house and watched movies and ate deserts. We missed dinner and their gift exchange, so I didn't get any photos. But I did take a picture of their tree, isn't it beautiful:

We stayed at Doug's parent's house until about 11:30pm. It was great spending time with our families.

Merry Christmas!

We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

Let A Sleeping Doug Lie

As many of you know, Doug is super super busy during the holiday seasons. He's been working 80 hours a week for the last couple weeks. So, needless to say, he falls asleep every chance he gets.
Yesterday morning I was using our Wii Fit and this is what I see...

Seriously!!?? Doug's Wii guy fell asleep too!! I laughed like crazy and of course ran to get my camera. Without a photo to prove it, I don't know how anyone could actually believe Wii Doug fell asleep too. Even Wii April couldn't believe it and kept looking at Wii Doug. HAHAHAH

Doug's response to his sleeping Wii Doug was, "That's Awesome!"

Cell Photo Recovery

After 2 hours of frustration, I was able to retrieve the photos off my cell phone. The videos transferred, but won't play. And the text messages are gone, I can't upload or transfer them. It bums me out because I have texts on the phone that meant a lot to me. Like, Doug has sent me a message every year on the day he proposed telling me how happy he is and that he loves me.

Oh well I guess.

Here are some of the pictures from the phone I think are fun and bring back fun memories.

Snow on our way to Reno to visit Paul & Jackie for our second Thanksgiving this year:
My cute grandma in my wig and hat (you may have seen this one around Halloween):
A cake Kristie made for my birthday 2007:
Doug and I went bowling with some friends, June '09:
My boss' office when he went on vacation, June '07 (we made it look like we partied):
Becky's desk when she went on vacation, June '07 (we Saran wrapped everything):
My desk when I got back from lunch one day, May '08:
Doug in the moldy place, we had to get rid of everything so we wrapped him in all the foil, wax paper and colored cling wrap, March '07:
Doug and I went on a date to the Macaroni Grill - they give you crayons to draw on the paper on the table, Feb '08:
When we went to my brother's graduation in Washington, Feb '07
The photo I had in my phone that would show when Becky was calling, Feb '07:
My desk on another day when I came back from lunch, the keyboard and mouse were wrapped as gifts and there was "snow" all over my desk, Dec '08:
Doug took me on a date to these cement slides, they were really fun, I don't know the date but I'm pretty sure it was in the summer of 2006.
A crazy teacher I had in college, I used to try to describe how he never turned the lights on and always had a light shining behind him so I never knew what he looked like and couldn't pick him out of a line up if I had to. This is what I saw every night for the whole semester (yes, that's probably a woman's leg and more than likely she's naked - he made us watch the craziest stuff - I walked out of many classes. AND, he never had tests or took attendance. He only made us turn in one paper at the end of the semester and I'm pretty sure I could have written the word watermelon 500 times and he wouldn't have noticed):
Sacramento Temple:
Doug and I went to the State Fair 2006 and saw the Terminator:
We also saw a Lego Batman:
At church in the Singles Ward:
My fish, Spaghetti the Noodle Fantastic (Noodle for short), who recently died:
And last, but not least the Oakland Temple:
There are many more photos, but I already shared most of them with you throughout the years. I hope you enjoyed the trip through my dead cell phone. The phone worked after we got home from buying a new one, but now the screen doesn't work. I can tell when the phone turns on and off because of the tones it makes, but that's it. I'm pretty sure the parts inside are rusting away from the bleach/Tilex.

P.S. Our fish at home, Fishy Smurf, has a fatal disease called Dropsy. He looks like pine cone and his belly is bloated. I want to OD him to put him out of his misery, but at the same time I hope he will recover. What I can find online says it's kidney failure. Poor Fishy. Not a good season for me to own a fish I guess. One died over the Thanksgiving holiday and now this one is suffering.

The Grinch

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. - Dr. Seuss

Christmas is coming!! I can't wait!! I just love this time of year. People are giving, singing fun songs and family and friends take a break out of busy schedules to spend time together.

(Oh, not to mention my 4 day weekend next week and the following week!! LOL)

P.S. I think my coworker's husband won the modeling contest. He had the most votes, but I haven't heard for sure yet.

Happy Birthday Doug!!

Remember when you were young? and you were sent to school with cupcakes for the class? Well, that's what we did for Doug's birthday. He was sent to work with almost 6 dozen cupcakes.

Happy Birthday Babe!!

I can't post his birthday present because I made one for my mom's birthday too and she hasn't seen her present yet - she has to wait until we go up there for Christmas.

Cell Phone + Tilex =

DEATH!!!

I just dropped my cell phone in water and Tilex. It was only about an inch of water, but now the battery is making a sizzling/burning sound when I put it back in.

I think I just lost all the photos/text messages, videos, etc that were in my phone. I'm just really really really really hoping all the phone numbers on the SIM card are okay.

I'm one ticked off Ape!!!

I'm sure you can imagine how much it's going to cost to get a new phone. At least I'm due for an upgrade. The last phone I killed I ran over with my car.

Stirring Summary Coming in 3…2…1…

Well, you’ve done it. You’ve finished this book. You must realize that this is in direct violation of the principles outlined on pages 9, 21, and 39. You’ve done something, you’ve taken action, and you may have learned something new. In other words, you’ve taken three steps backwards on the path to becoming miserable. Just don’t let it happen again. Studies have shown that people who read books or listen to audio programs about becoming happier, healthier and more successful tend to become happier, healthier, and more successful. So you must stop it right now. Okay, let’s review: How do you become totally miserable?

Use Your Imagi-Nation to Worry
Believe That Things Will Never Change
Think About Your Problems
Don't Do Anything
Worry About Things You Can’t Control
Complain About Your Blessings
Think About Yourself
Relive Your Bad Memories
Blame Everyone and Everything
Don’t Take Any Action
Put Yourself Down
Don’t Set Goals
Hold On To Grudges
Stay Miserable
Judge Other People’s Motives
Put Deadlines on Your Happiness
Always Want More
Be a Breath of Stale Air
Don’t Learn Anything New
Postpone Prayer
Avoid Good Company
Don’t Sing
Don’t Smile
Don’t Laugh
Backbite
Sleep Too Much
Don’t Have a Purpose
Recycle Regrets
Take Counsel From Your Fears
Be Easily Offended
Wait For Life To Happen
Avoid Adventure
Assume That Moping Will Solve the Problem

Assume That Moping Will Solve the Problem

At the moment of depression, if you will follow a simple program, you will get out of it. Get on your knees and get the help of God, then get up and go find somebody who needs something that you can help them with. Then it will be a good day. – Marion D Hanks

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of it for another. – Charles DickensMiserable people figure that if they lie around, and stew, and think, and nap, and remove themselves from the world, eventually their doing nothing will solve the problem. Happy people know that misery exits when you enter the life of someone else and make a difference. Ironically, one of the best ways to lift your spirits is to forget yourself and lift someone else’s. And, if you’d like a double dose of depression-destroying activity, do something for someone else anonymously. There’s a certain giggly giddiness that comes your way when you commit random acts of kindness and nobody knows who did it. It’s hard to keep frowning when you know someone else is smiling because of you.

Avoid Adventure

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. – Helen Keller

What would you attempt to do, if you know you could not fail? – Robert Schuller
When you ask miserable people, “What’s new?” they say, “Nothing.” Miserable people haven’t done anything new in years. Happy people love to try new things. And when they encounter a problem, they think of it as just another adventure. If they get lost on their way somewhere, they say, “All right, an adventure!” When the power goes out, they gather the flashlights and tell stories on the couch. If they get caught in a cloudburst, they jump in puddles and sing in the rain! Miserable people, on the other hand, don’t see an opportunity for adventure, they just think they’re being picked on. They ask, “What did I do to deserve this?” or “Why does this always happen to me?” (Oh, be serious, does this ALWAYS happen to you?) Happy people turn little adversities into big adventures.

"Sicko"

Doug has been calling me "Sicko" for a couple days now. This is what 2 days without sleep and a sinus infection look like:

Yep, that really is a tissue rolled up and stuck in my nose. I'm so sick of my nose running non stop. I have another tissue under my eye because I keep tearing; my eye lids are swollen and red. I told Doug they look like mealworms. I'm a big germy moco ball! (moco is Spanish for booger)

On Thursday night I couldn't sleep, so I tried to watch some TV; Doug got up for work on Friday at about 2am and I was still wide awake. Then I went to bed and tried to bore myself to sleep and finished 100 pages of a book I was reading; it didn't work. I finally fell asleep (with tissue shoved in my nose), but after a very short time I jerked from a dream I must have had and couldn't get back to sleep.

I can't sleep if I can't breathe through my nose; I'm not a good mouth breather.

Luckily I already had an annual check up scheduled yesterday. I went to work to take care of the work on my desk and then drove to my doctor's office and tried to sleep in the parking lot until my appointment.

Today, Doug is at work and I'm on the couch coughing, sneezing, blowing my nose, etc. Doug made me hot tea before he left for work, but since I can't taste anything it was really bitter. I'm trying to be a little productive while in my mocofied state by doing laundry. Within arms reach are: cold pills, antibiotics, 2 books, cell phone, DSi, hand sanitizer, my second empty moco box (that's what I call tissue boxes), a roll of toilet paper since I'm out of tissues, a garbage bag, heating pad, chap stick and water. Wanna come over and hang out???? I really hope I don't get Doug sick.

Oh, last night on the way home from my great aunt's funeral, my step-dad was in a car accident. He rear ended a car that had rear ended another car. Then a car behind him was rear ended, but the driver took off. I'm so glad everyone is okay.

This is a picture of my Aunt Pat (she's my grandpa's sister, but we never called her "great Aunt Pat"). She struggled with Alzheimer's (as did my grandpa) and Parkinson's for many years and passed away on November 27th. Aunt Pat and Uncle Bernie were married for 56 years.
