Bodega Bay Part 1

Ruger and Winnie are used to having the entire back of my SUV, but with 4 adults and a car seat, they were stuck in the way back:

Cole was hanging out in the back seats with Breanna and me:
Random picture tossed in the middle of all this.... Doug sent me this picture - our dogs have laser eyes!!:
We arrived at Bodega Bay!! Specifically Dillons Beach:
Ruger is allowed to dig in one place ... the beach ... and he LOVES it!!:

We put their 30 foot leads on and let them run all over the place:

Ruger trying to eat the waves and foam:
This seagull tormented Ruger for a while.  Ruger wanted to catch this bird so bad!:
Breanna walking with Cole:

It was a beautiful day at the beach!

Ben running around with Ruger:

Ruger ran around until he couldn't hold it anymore.  He stopped mid-run and started peeing.  We laughed so hard!  It felt like he stood still like this for 5 minutes peeing:
The dogs tangled up around Doug as a wave washed in and ended up filling his shoes with water.  Whoops!  haha:
Speaking of getting wrapped up - the 30 foot leads were covered in sand and Ruger ran by me and I couldn't jump over the lead fast enough.  It ended up basically sanding my shin off.  It hurt for quite a while and turned into a pretty icky scab.  It felt okay when I had my feet up, but when I would stand it felt like a bunch of paper cuts would rip open as the blood would rush to my leg.  I felt like such a sissy, but this sucker hurt!:

Huge kite up the beach:

Hanging out enjoying the sunshine:

Sewing Catch Up

People sure can cause a lot of unnecessary drama.  This is how I feel when I'm tired of dealing with it, tired of feeling like the bad guy when all I do is try to help and tired of getting emotionally beat up:

I took some time on vacation to catch up on a few sewing projects.  This one was to hem my capris so they weren't so baggy around the calves:
This is the black pair, but this is what it looked like before I took them in:
After - not too bad!:
We went to meat Doug's Uncle Ben and Aunt Charlotte for dessert, but the bakery was closed.  We met up for pizza instead.  We had a really good time hanging out and telling stories.  Doug and I stopped for a milk shake when we were done with our pizza date.  Look at all these flavors!!!:
there's even a Grape Ape!!!
Doug ran sprinklers to our fruit trees in the wine barrels.  Pete the Turtle makes sure they're running properly:
A map of all the places we've been.  We marked places we've been together and then we used different stickers to show were we've been individually:
This is after I finished the applique process:
I started adding stitching around the windows and borders.  The outside border is stitched to look like quilting too:
The fringed curtains are too cute:
I added some stitching to the leaves to add more details:
While I was sewing, Doug was helping build a basketball hoop for Aaron:
I was trying to sew button holes so I could add them to the wall hanging for my mom, but I screwed them all up.  I spent about an hour trying to figure it out and finally gave up:
This is the finished product.  I'll had to figure out how my mom wanted to hang it and then I added the material loops.  Picture will follow later.  I'm very pleased with the way it turned out!:

Anniversary Chores & Dinner

Doug and I decided to spend the morning of our anniversary ripping a Rosemary bush out of the ground.  When I was walking towards the back door I saw Doug raking Ruger.  Ruger was loving it! HAHAHA:
We put the baby gate at the side fence so they beasties could still watch us and it kept them awake and active.  Ruger is a loud, antsy job foreman:
The huge annoying bush before:
We ended up making a huge pile in our driveway:

After!!  It's so nice to walk through there now.  Pulling our trashcan through it's a pain now.  It looks so much better:
We took some time to relax and then got cleaned up for a nice dinner for our anniversary.  We went to Morton's again this year.  We had steak, shrimp, scallions, salads, twice baked scalloped potatoes, grilled asparagus and these delicious desserts:
During dinner Doug told me  a story that was playing out in his head.  He was thinking about gunfire happening in the restaurant and how he wanted to take just one shot at this glass wine room.  We had a pretty good laugh over it!  I said that I could totally picture a movie scene where tons of gunfire was happening and then silence.  Then out of nowhere POP!!! One last shot that Doug fires off at the room.  HAHAH:
Sunset on the way home from dinner:
The picture the restaurant took for us and printed:
